Motorola Solutions protects our people, communities and the planet
We recognize that we have a shared responsibility for minimizing climate impact and we set goals that will help to limit our contribution to global climate change
Our approach to climate strategy
Our carbon footprint is a reflection of our business processes & practices. We know that to reduce our impact, we have to take a serious look at where we can exercise influence to minimize carbon emissions across our value chain. We use science-based methodologies to pinpoint strategic opportunities & characterize those opportunities into three main areas.
Responsible operations
We have set the goal to reduce our scope 1 and 2 emissions by 95% by 2031 in alignment with the Science Based Targets Initiative methodology.
Sustainable supply chain
We work with our suppliers to ensure they are aligned with our long term climate strategy. We aim to make greener purchasing decisions when opportunities arise.
Product stewardship
We work to minimize the environmental impact of our products by enhancing energy efficiency, making conscientious material selections, and reducing packaging.
Climate risk
Climate risk
We are working to incorporate the potential risks of climate change into our climate strategy and disclose those risks to our stakeholders. In 2021, we compiled our inaugural report, to align with the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosure (TCFD).
Our TCFD report addresses four core pillars: governance, strategy, risk management, and metrics and targets, as well as information about our business in the face of the challenges of climate change.

We look for ways to optimize our portfolio by understanding how employees utilize our offices, minimizing unused space and maximizing employee benefit.
The environment and our supply chain
We know that the sustainability of our products and our business extends far beyond our operational control. We engage closely with our suppliers to ensure that we are closely aligned on not only quality but on our environmental goals.
- Our Green Procurement Policy helps to guide how we buy sustainably
- We require suppliers to align with our environmental goals and report on their progress
Sustainable design and product stewardship
We consider environmental impacts in the design of our products and work across all stages of the lifecycle to reduce carbon footprint and increase environmental benefits.
Energy efficiency of our products
We are improving energy efficiency across our product range. Evolving regulatory & customer requirements for energy-efficient products aligns with our drive to reduce carbon impacts across our portfolio.
Materials management
We work to reduce hazardous substances in our products and find environmentally-sound alternatives, without compromising performance and quality.
Packaging
We are optimizing product packaging by replacing materials with environmentally preferential alternatives, increasing use of recycled and recyclable materials and optimizing the amount of material used.
